Paper Artist

Hmmmm, where to begin. Okay, I’m going to start with the cliche “I’ve always been a maker” From building tree houses in my back garden to pottery classes on family holidays and everything in between, I like to get stuck in and hands on.

Jennifer Giles is my business name…that’s correct, it’s not my real name. That is a whole different story for another time. My real name is Jennifer Hackett.

I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2008 with a degree in Fine Art. My art practice had nothing to do with paper and had a lot to do with words and sounds. After a few years as an artist I became a director of an artist led gallery and studio space.

Jennifer Giles grew out of my studio space and was officially established in 2012 when I started selling through craft fairs around the country and My fascination with butterflies, trees and nature led me to paper-cutting and my work has developed from there.

Now I draw inspiration for my paper cuts from wildlife, my love of travel and adventure and my fascination with anything miniature.
